Crazy Golf Just Got Epic!

Friday evening on 16 April, saw the combined QS and Admin teams set off in the pleasant sunshine for ‘team time’ in fashionable Brick Lane. The evenings activities started with a meal at Urban Braai serving South African Barbecue dishes. Their generous portions were very tasty and were so large that they defeated most of our intrepid band.

After a short stop off for liquid refreshment, it appeared that Liam was well-known in the area as several people came up to chat to him, but it turned out that the restaurants have a very ‘pro-active’ approach to encouraging customers into their establishments! Liam obviously looked like the easiest person to sway! We eventually arrived at the main event Junkyard Golf!

Well…. Crazy Golf has come a long way from negotiating a wonky wooden windmill on some rainy, windswept seafront! Flashing lights, UV lights, throbbing music, a bar and several different 9 hole courses to choose from. The course we played was called Gary!?, which had assorted tyres and bits of old cars to negotiate round – but whatever the course, true skill will always shine and 3 talented individuals achieved a hole in one – Dominic, Luke and Steve.

However the overall winners, each with a very creditable score of 24 were Jackie, Alfie and Dominic! With drink and pride fuelling many of the recounting it soon became clear that the winning team was Carol, Jackie, Gina, Max and Alfie (but only by a small margin).Congratulations to all!

After a short time of rest, refreshment and photo opportunities, we left Junkyard Golf and made our way back onto Brick Lane. At this point in the evening the group split into two smaller groups; the under 60s went off in search of a bar, to conclude the evening in style and the over 60s went home to bed!

A splendid time was had by all!
