Summerhouse PRU Modular Classroom

The project commenced with the relocation and realignment of the drains, followed by the groundworks in preparation for the new modular buildings early in the programme. No further work was required on-site until the final stages of the project. The modular construction allowed off site manufacturing that meant little disruption to the school’s teaching.

Correspondence took place with the neighbouring school and residents to inform and arrange the most suitable delivery time of the modules. The building was made up of two modules that were delivered and in place on site within a few hours. On the successfully completion of the installation the building was made water tight. This allowed for final finishes, fixtures and fittings to be carried out internally. This included service connections from the existing school, carpet, vinyl floor and final decorations.

The modular classroom lay in a restricted space between the existing main school building and the party wall. The building would have a visual impact on the street scene so it was important that the finish to be considered sympathetic to its surroundings. The modules were clad in a Western Red Cedar that blended subtly with the main school and the neighbouring buildings.

The School were very pleased with their completed classroom facilities and can’t wait to move in.
