Sidcup Cinema and Library

A design & build project for London Borough of Bexley, the project created a new space for the community, providing a 3-screen cinema, café, library and workspace across 3 floors, as well as 9 residential flats comprising 3 x 1 bed and 6 x 2 bed flats.

The library is housed on the ground level, with the cinema above and residential units to the rear.  Works included demolishing the previous building, designing and building this new community hub.

Situated within the residential hub of Sidcup high street, high pedestrian and vehicular numbers, together with the full occupation of the new building, safety was a huge consideration on the project for all parties.

Written proposals which outlined how the works were to be phased and how disruption from noise, dust, deliveries and general access to and from the site will be minimized had to be submitted to the Client. These proposals also included details of how shared access routes had to be pre-approved to safeguard the staff and the general public. Safety access systems had to be
installed to enable roof works as well as the window replacements.
