Playle & Partners LLP were appointed by Boxgrove Primary School to design and manage the creation of a new Designated Special Provision (DSP) area of the school for teaching children on the autistic spectrum. The existing area of the school consisted of a series of underused spaces to be converted into the new provision. Playle & Partners LLP worked closely with the school and local authority to create the new internal layout, optimising the space while remaining within the Clients restricted budget for the works.

The interior of the new DSP was specifically designed to create a calming environment for the pupils, with muted and neutral colours and lighting creating this effect. Playle & Partners LLP worked closely with specialist sensory room designers and M&E consultants to create a new high end sensory room to be used as a breakout space for the children. The project was handed over within the Client budget, with the Client being exceptionally pleased with the new provision within their school.
