Avondale Primary School SEN Facility

This project involved the refurbishment and reconfiguration of an existing school building to deliver a dedicated Special Educational Needs facility within Avondale Primary School. The scheme was developed to increase provision for pupils with complex needs, including ASD and SEMH, creating a supportive, inclusive environment alongside the mainstream school setting.

With increasing demand for specialist SEN provision, Ormiston Academies Trust required additional capacity within an existing school site. The brief centred on delivering:

• A fully integrated SEN facility within the existing school estate
• Specialist learning environments tailored to pupil needs
• Improved accessibility and inclusive design measures
• Minimal disruption to the operational school

The scheme focused on creating calm, adaptable, and welcoming spaces that prioritise pupil wellbeing and support a wide range of learning needs.

All works were undertaken within a fully operational primary school, requiring stringent safeguarding measures and careful site management. Construction activities were planned and coordinated to ensure minimal disruption to pupils, staff, and the surrounding community.
