ONE YEAR ON

As I sit here writing this, I cannot help but reminisce on the progress made by Playle & Partners LLP since I joined 16 years ago. Back then the office decor was stuck in the 80s, large fixed desks to enable A1 drawings to be laid out, a digitizer, a drill to hole punch contracts and paper everywhere! Then there was the smell of smoke in the fabric from a bygone age of late night measurement and take offs.

Since I joined the changes started by the then Partners John Farrow, Paul Turner and Jon Badcock has been remarkable. We are now a modern company, an excellent place to work with a strong set of values and principles to guide us. This enabled the company to achieve the Investors in People Gold accreditation in 2018.

Like many companies across the country Covid-19 had a significant impact upon us as a practice. It has fundamentally changed the way in which we work, collaborate and deliver our schemes. It hasn’t changed our togetherness and our drive to design, manage and cost successful construction projects.

On the 1 October 2022 we celebrated a year since Hayley, Sarah, Claire, Liam and I became owners of the practice. Despite what Covid, the Government and the economic outlook has so far put in our way it has been a very positive year.

As a relatively young management team we have a desire to not only continually improve ourselves but to also help in the need to better the construction industry as a place to work for all. We need to deliver more sustainable, safer and collaborative building projects. This can only be achieved by working with clients, consultants and contractors across the industry.

The progress being made is captured in today’s exciting news that Playle & Partners LLP have broken into Building magazines Top 150 Consultants for the first time in its 68-year history.

The next year is likely to be tough given the recent market developments and outlook, but we are confident in our ability to grow and succeed. We will continue to develop our identity as a modern, diverse company, improve our systems and processes and look to recruit across our services. This follows successful appointments on frameworks including LHC, Braintree District Council, The National Framework Partnership and the MTVH Professional Services Framework amongst others.

None of the above would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our staff, we thank you all for your continued support to us.

We are also grateful to our clients with whom we have built strong and lasting relationships, we look forward to developing these relationships further.

Tonight, the Partners and I are off to celebrate our first year together, we hope it will be the first of many.
