Swaffield Primary School

Playle & Partners were commissioned to redevelop an existing area within Swaffield Primary school in order to purpose-build an SEN base capable of accomodating 16 pupils. This scheme was part of a Wandsworth Borough-wide programme to increase and improve SEN provision in the area.

The existing area consisted of a large hall, classroom, kitchenette, WC’s and external hardstanding. Within the base there are now 2 classrooms (one with the ability to be further subdivided), sensory room, group rooms, office as well as WC’s and a revitalised external play space. All areas have been uplifted with new M&E fittings and fixtures to create a sustainable and modern internal environment.

Security for the base was a key component to the successful running of the site. Secure access controls and a private entrance was designed to allow the site to become a safe and secure unit for the new children.
