Playle & Partners LLP are proud to have begun supporting The Diamond Kite Foundation in 2023, a charity supporting young carers,  contributing to various fundraising initiatives and events. As we look back at the past year and a half, we are delighted to showcase some of these activities while reaffirming our commitment to continuing this support throughout 2024.

Reflecting on 2023: A Year of Collaboration and Support

Playle & Partners LLP collaboration with The Diamond Kite Foundation began in 2023 in order to aid them by attending their planned events, supporting their fundraising, hosting bespoke events and volunteering with the organizing and running of some of their events alongside the Trustees.

The Diamond Kite Foundation’s purpose is to provide young carers with much needed support and respite through the experience of a trip away from home.  With the aim of building an ongoing peer network for support and wellbeing. Playle and Partners were involved with a number of activities held over that year

  • Quiz Night in March: The year kicked off with a Quiz Night, where we entered two teams. It was an engaging evening of quizzing, raffles, and camaraderie, capped by a second-place win for Team Liam.
  • Wine Tasting in May: Charlie Hobson hosted a Wine Tasting evening for staff and friends, joined by all the DKF Trustees. Participants enjoyed learning about different wines, including non-alcoholic options for designated drivers.
  • Treasure Hunt in July: DKF Trustees organized a bespoke Treasure Hunt for Playle’s staff and families. This exciting event explored the sites of London, with a route that included architectural highlights and the RICS headquarters.
  • Thames Bridges Trek in September: The highlight of the year saw Playle’s team of 6 joining the DKF team, forming a group of 21 participants for the Thames Bridges Trek. The 26km journey, crossing 16 bridges from Putney to Southwark, showcased our core values of “Can Do” and “One Team.” Despite the 32-degree heat, the team’s spirit stayed high, buoyed by sing-alongs and the support of DKF Trustees along the route.
  • Masterchef Challenge in October: Pelin Erginsoyand Michael Coulson took the lead in a Masterchef-style cooking competition, where participants were randomly assigned countries and prepared traditional dishes. The culinary creations were judged in secret by fellow staff members with a prize for the best chef!

Continuing Support in 2024: Snack Packs for Diamond Kite Foundation

Our commitment to The Diamond Kite Foundation continued throughout the past year. In 2024, kept our support through initiatives like our Snack Pack Station in the company break-out space, the ‘Rainbow Room’. Stocked with fruit, cereal bars, biscuits, crisps, and the all-important pot noodles – Handy when it’s pouring with rain and you’ve forgotten your lunch!   Contributions to the honesty jar go directly to DKF, helping to fund their essential work.

Supporting Young Carers

It is estimated that there are about 800,000 young carers in the UK. Being a young carer often means looking after a family member who is disabled, chronically ill or has a mental health condition.

27% of young carers aged 5-18 regularly miss time at school.  These carers are often required to grow up far too early which can lead to them missing out on some of the same opportunities as other children.  Many of these young carers are not only losing their childhood but they are all too often victims of bullying and social exclusion which sadly, could can have lasting impacts on their lives.

By supporting The Diamond Kite Foundation, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these young individuals. The Diamond Kite Foundation aim is to provide much needed respite for these young carers with a holiday of a lifetime to Disney Land. Being on this trip with other children experiencing the same things in their lives, provides an opportunity to make new friends and help them build a network of support.

We are excited to continue our journey with The Diamond Kite Foundation through our Snack Pack Station in 2025, fostering support, raising awareness and making a positive impact through our shared efforts.

Our fundraising efforts have contributed to a group of young carers benefiting from a trip to Disneyland Paris in November 2024.
