Hopescourt SEN School

Hopescourt SEN School is a new school providing 200 places for special education needs. The provision is for an ASD/COIN “All Through School” operated by the Bourne Trust providing accommodation for students from Reception to post 16.
The new 2-storey school has been purposely built in a 5.3-hectare field in a green belt location in the borough of Elmbridge in Surrey. The land was classed as agricultural land and used as a horse paddock. The site is bisected on an approximate north/south axis by the Exolum Pipeline running between Heathrow Airport & Gatwick Airport, with a 6m easement in place.

    CDM Principal Designer
  • Value:
    £13,000,000

The site is known to flood frequently during the winter and dry out during the Spring and Summer months, therefore the design introduced a sustainable drainage strategy and attenuation pond, to collect surface water drainage, allowing for rise and fall of water levels depending on rainfall.
