Working closely with ECD Architects and under a JCT 2011 Standard Building Contract with Quantities, Playle & Partners LLP provided full Quantity Surveying services for RIBA stages 2-7. Works facilitated a much needed place for vocational subjects to be taught to students with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. Project facilities include a motorbike workshop, gym, masonry workshop, decoration workshop, media and music room, health and beauty room and an external play area with basketball hoop and table tennis.

The project ran smoothly and despite a key issue being to address the suspected foul drainage run problem, and was a surface drainage issue, completed on schedule and budget.

Recycling is always a concern and 93% of site waste was recycled with special care given to sustainable design choices which looked at the lifecycle cost (including low flush cisterns, sensor operated taps and lights and the re-commissioning of the original 2011 Valiant boiler). This fell in line with the sustainability objective of the project ‘achieving more with less.’
