Woking Magistrates Court

The works comprised of the deep cleaning, alterations, additional M & E services installations, courtroom furniture and A- V technology and refurbishment and redecoration to the ground floor and first floor levels of the existing Magistrates Court in order that it can function as a Coroners’ Court.

All of the windows were cleaned externally and vegetation removed from access paths, steps and ramps. Further accessibility works were later included at the client request.

New courtroom furniture installed included:-

  • Legal Advisors Benches

At the initial stages of the project an initial budget estimate for the required refurbishment works was prepared by Playle & Partners in 2014 indicating an estimated Construction cost of £610,000. The final Account Total in 2015 was agreed at £603,796.75.

During the original contract the original contractor used ceased trading due to financial difficulties; under the terms of the NEC3 Form of Contract clause 91.1 (R6) Playle & Partners issued a Termination Certificate on 31 July 2014, terminating the contract between Surrey County Council and Pembury FM Services Ltd. Despite a new contractor was appointed and works were completed with minimal delay and on budget
