London Borough of Enfield opens 'brilliant' newly refurbished library.
"It's a very welcoming place, especially for people who might otherwise not use a library. I loved the zoning by carpet colour and the warm welcome given by the amount of light and the colours used. The whole place felt very buzzy and alive. I can't fault anything and was really delighted to visit the library."
"My congratulations to everybody concerned."
"Brilliant!"
Just a few of the comments that have appeared in the visitors' book, since the refurbished Bush Hill Park Library opened in January 2010. It's official opening was held on 23 February 2010 where it was renamed The John Jackson Library.
Part of the BIG Lotteryfund's Community Libraries programme, the project comprised the refurbishment, alteration and extension to the library including substantial demolitions, re-roofing and rebuilding of parts of the existing structure. Overall the original late Victorian building has been doubled in size with an enlarged IT / Study Area, plus dedicated PCs in the Teen and Children's Areas, a Community Room and a Music Room for use by the local community. Internal structural alterations include a new kitchen facility, disabled WC and store rooms.
