The Architecture Team were joined by other members of staff for an evening of rafting fun at the Lee Valley White Water Rafting. The evening was a great success, and an excellent team building exercise, even if it was rather cold!
After being kitted out with wet suits, buoyancy aids and helmets, we were ready to go! However, before being let loose on the Olympic Course, a safety assessment had to be completed. This did not go down too well as it comprised of jumping into the water to test our swimming abilities on a fairly cold October evening. Once the safety assessment was complete, both teams set off on several runs of the white water rafting course.
The various twist, turns and drops along the course provided plenty of entertainment, with several lost paddles and the occasional team member falling overboard. The various instructions being shouted from the rear of the boat kept people alert, with regular instructions to lean left or right to prevent the boat from tipping being of particular importance.
After an exciting couple of hours on the water, the team headed to the bar for a well-earned drink and a sit down, with a live band to provide further entertainment for the rest of the evening.
Overall it was a great event, with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves, although the general consensus was that it may be an event best suited to the warmer summer months!
