John Ball Primary School
£3.8m (including demolition contract)
The project involved a series of extensions and internal remodelling comprising of 6 classrooms, new entrance, administration, staff and senior management facilities and included hall and kitchen improvement works. The works enabled the expansion of the school from 2 forms of entry to 3 forms of entry to meet the demand for primary school places in the area. The school was originally built in 1953 and in 2001 a purpose built early years units was added and in 2010 a new music block was opened with a new year 6 block in 2011. The existing accommodation is split over two sites and located within the Blackheath Conservation Area.
The project was shortlisted finalists in the London Building Excellence Awards 2016 in both Best Education Building and Best Inclusive Building.
